Best Raw Dog Food

Rawlicious Dog Food

Welcome you made it! Join us as we breakdown the reasons why the absolute best thing you can feed your dog is packed right into our formula.

We are going to be discussing some things most everyone knows about raw and perhaps some things that at first glance might seem strange.

We will try and break down everything and hope you will agree, this is by far the best meal at any price.

This formula was designed to feed and supercharge our dogs. It was never designed as a commercial food. Profit from day one was never on the design table. The mindset was and still is what how can we optimally nourish our dogs and keep them thriving rather then just surviving. That is the foundation for our formula.

Rawlicious Dog Food is the best raw dog food. Nutraceutical enhanced high quality raw meats with and natures nourishments.

What are Nutraceuticals?

Nutraceuticals are functional foods or medicinal Foods. The founder and chairman of the Foundation of Innovation in Medicine, Dr. Stephen DeFelice, coined the term Nutraceuticals” in 1989 and defined it as “food, or part of food, that provides medical or health benefits, including the prevention and treatment of disease.”

Functional Foods are foods that provide the body with nutritional benefits that may reduce the risk of disease or promote optimal health.

Examples of functional food and medicinal foods and why they make up the best raw dog food formula :

Green Beans – Green beans are a good source of plant fibre, vitamin K, vitamin C, and manganese. General Vitamin K is an underappreciated nutrient that doesn’t receive enough attention. Giving Vitamin K1 for dogs has shown to improve their liver and blood health. Vitamin K2 showed positive effects on heart and bone-related disease. There has been some suggestions that adding of Vitamin K2 supplements can help with different types of cancer. An observational study has found a link between Vitamin K2 and a 63% risk reduction in prostate cancer [42]. A few clinical trials suggest that Vitamin K2 can increase chance of survival and reduce recurrence of liver cancer [43, 44].

Sweet potatoes – are another source of dietary fiber and contain vitamin B6, vitamin C, beta carotene, and manganese. Vitamin B6 is essential for the metabolism of amino acids. Amino acids are critical to proper growth. Deficiency of B vitamins can result in a reduction of nerve reflexes and nervous control, retarded growth, a loss of appetite, loose stools, poor coat, abnormalities of the eyes, and potentially heart failure. B-complex (in particular B2 and B6) is also essential for the prevention of bladder stone formation in dogs.

Menhaden Fish- Menhaden Fish Oil is a natural, non-hydrogenated and structurally unaltered fish oil containing approximately 35% total omega-3 fatty acids with a balanced concentration of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid). The health benefits of fish oil for dogs, as well as humans, include its ability to aid in the treatment of various heart diseases, high cholesterol, depressionanxiety, weakened immune system, cancerdiabetes, inflammation, arthritis, IBD, eye disorders, macular degeneration and ulcers. It also helps aid weight loss, healthy pregnancy, fertility and skin care both in dogs and humans.

Broccoli abundunt with Beta-carotene  Broccoli is a great source of vitamins C &  K as well as fiber and folate. Feeding a dog a portion of broccoli, and other greens makes a lot of sense. The cancer fighting antioxidants combined with anti-allergy and anti-inflammatory agents are absolutely outstanding. Broccoli also protects against harmful bacteria and viruses while boosting the immune system. It can even repair DNA in the cells which is indicative of powerful anti-aging properties, and its super food for eye care.

Brown Rice – Not all rice is created equal. However, rice has received quite a negative reputation as of late among a few dog owners, but is everything being said really truthful?  For the Dog parents like yourself who want to get the right facts and not be misguided with false information, we will cover everything you need to know about rice, and then some. California Brown rice is very healthy for dogs and arsenic free. Brown rice is a little higher in protein and a little lower in fat when compared to white rice.

Many animal nutrition experts and veterinarians agree that dogs, like humans, can reduce several health risks when their diet includes certain whole grains. For instance , dogs can have reduced risks of obesity, kidney disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, and some cancers when brown rice is included in there diet.  Additionally it is excellent source of insoluble fiber and helps to keep blood sugar levels normal and steady. California Brown Rice is a solid source of magnesium, phosphorus, selenium, thiamin, niacin and vitamin B6, and an excellent source manganese.

Additional benefits include an excellent source of carbohydrates for your dog, which helps give energy to the body and especially to the brain. Brown rice very low in fat, low in sodium an excellent source of vitamin D. Brown rice in raw dog food is helpful for the growth is useful bacteria in the body that improve bowel movements. Helps cure stomach ailments and improves digestion and can cure skin aliments. Brown rice in dog food reduces bad cholesterol levels. Contrary to many concerns very rarely dogs have had an allergic reaction to brown rice. In those raw instances we have a rice free dog formula.
Parsley  is quite the nutritional powerhouse, including large amounts of vitamin K, along with healthy amounts of vitamins C and A, and iron. Parsley is considered a powerful diuretic, which may help arthritic dogs suffering from poor waste elimination (Herbs for Pets by Gregory L. Tilford and Mary L. Wulff). In addition, the large amounts of vitamin K in itself may be helpful against rheumatoid arthritis since, according to the Arthritis Foundation, studies suggest the vitamin destroys inflammatory cells contributing to the disease. Also because of its diuretic abilities, parsley may be helpful for urinary tract infections. The idea is that the bad bacteria gets flushed out of the bladder because urination is increased. Its antimicrobial qualities may also be of help against the bacteria causing the infection.

A 2012 study at the University of Missouri found that apigenin, found in parsley, shows promise as treatment for an aggressive type of breast cancer in humans. The apigenin actually shrank tumors in a group of mice. Parsley also contains myricetin, a flavonol that has been linked to potentially helping prevent skin cancer.

Cilantro For over 5,000 years, Ayurveda medicine has used both coriander and cilantro to support liver function, fight bacterial infections, encourage digestive enzymes, detox the liver and kidneys, incite memory, soothe skin rashes, and to stimulate the secretion of insulin. While cilantro benefits stem from its vitamin content, Cilantro’s nutritive qualities come from minerals, and yet it is still considered a good source of vitamin C, along with  phosphorus, potassium, zinc, dietary fiber, calcium, iron, and magnesium
Cilantro is a Strong & powerful natural chelating agent, helping eliminate persistent heavy metals from a dogs system. Yes,  they get heavy metal poison from the environment as well. Arsenic, cadmium, aluminum, lead and mercury can become resident in our tissues leading to heart disease, hormonal imbalances, neurological conditions, infertility, and so much more. Cilantro, also known scientifically as “Coriandrum sativum”, has been shown to bind these toxic metals together, loosening them from tissue, and facilitating their elimination from the body. One study found that Coriandrum sativum significantly protects against lead induced oxidative stress, while another study found that cilantro actually accelerates the removal of heavy metals from the body.(23)Dr. Omura, director of Medical Research at the Heart Disease Foundation, found in this study that antibiotic use is linked to the buildup of heavy metals in the body. He believes that antibiotics actually can protect the heavy metals causing certain infections to relapse, even after an entire course of antibiotics.

Oregano (Origanum vulgare) Best recognized as added flavor for pizza, oregano is high in antioxidants and flavonoids and is reported as an antimicrobial. This non-toxic herb has been used to help with common dog digestive problems, diarrhea, and gas. Research using oil of oregano has also shown antifungal properties.

Apples with the skin on, are full of plant chemicals (phytonutrients) that are thought to be protective against some types of cancer in humans.  Apples contain calcium, vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin A and pectin (soluble fibre). They offer vitamin C and dietary fiber, and they are low in sodium and saturated fat. They contain calcium and phosphorus,  and they also add luster to a dog’s skin and coat health by adding omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to his diet.

Blueberries
Powerful carotenoids, phytonutrients, and flavonoids natural antioxidants.  They Increase antioxidants levels in the dog. however, in most cases, free radicals far outnumber the naturally occurring antioxidants. In order to maintain the balance, a continual supply of external sources of antioxidants is necessary in order to obtain the maximum benefits of antioxidants. Antioxidants benefit the body by neutralizing and removing the free radicals from the bloodstream.

A series of studies conducted on dogs (1) found that older dogs provided with an antioxidant-enriched diet were able to learn complex tasks with more success than those on a control diet. This, researchers hypothesized, was consistent with the assumption that oxidative damage contributes to brain aging in dogs. Antioxidants have even been shown to help dogs and cats that suffer from allergies or coat and skin problems. They also have been shown to promote immune system activity in young dogs before vaccination have been implemented.

Carrots – Many use carrots as a treat for their dogs but few understand all the benefits of carrots for both dogs and cats. While few use fresh carrots as a treat for cats, there are many benefits of using carrots in a balanced natural feline diet.

Carrots are an excellent source of antioxidants and phytonutrients, which are thought to help protect the heart and reduce the risk of cancer.

Vitamin A and beta-carotene. Super food for eye care. Foods high in carotenoids are thought to be beneficial for blood sugar regulation. They may be inversely associated with insulin resistance and high blood sugar levels.

Yogurt –
Yogurt is a natural source of calcium and it contains bacteria like Lactobacilos Acidophilus which are the natural inhabitants of the digestive tract. L. Acidophilus is a probiotic that helps in the process of digestion by inhibiting the growth of other harmful bacteria.
Yogurt helps in certain gastrointestinal conditions like yeast infection, diarrhea, constipation and irritable bowel movement. It also produces folic acid and niacin which are important vitamins in pregnancy of humans as well as dogs.  For the treatment of yeast infection in dogs, yogurt is most beneficial dogs.   It is known to treat most of the yeast infection symptoms like skin rashes and allergies. Yogurt for dogs ears has also recommended for fast relief from itching. Being pro-biotic in nature, the microorganism present in yogurt releases hydrogen peroxide and lactic acid which destroys or inhibits the harmful bacteria responsible for diarrhea in dogs.

Soft Boiled Eggs – A main ingredient in rawlicious food. They are the most highly digestible protein. Massively nutritious eggs are among the most nutritious foods on the planet.  A super food by all means. They are loaded with nutrients, some of which are rare in the modern canine diet due to cost of adding them as a main protein source.

Eggs contain Choline. Choline is a versatile supplement that offers many benefits. Among other things, it can help treat and even prevent “doggy dementia”. Choline is used to build cell membranes and has a role in producing signalling molecules in the brain, along with various other functions (17). Whole eggs are an excellent source of choline. A single egg contains more than 100 mg of this very important nutrient.

Eggs Contain Lutein and Zeaxanthin, Antioxidants That Have Major Benefits For Eye Health. Two carotenoids, lutein (pronounced loo-teen) and zeaxanthin (pronounced zee-uh-zan-thin), are antioxidants that are located in the eye. These two nutrients are powerful antioxidants that tend to build up in the retina of the eye (26, 27). Studies show that consuming adequate amounts of these nutrients can significantly reduce the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration, two very common eye disorders (28, 29, 30). Egg yolks actually contain large amounts of both Lutein and Zeaxanthin. In one controlled trial, eating just 1.3 egg yolks per day for 4.5 weeks increased blood levels of Lutein by 28-50% and Zeaxanthin by 114-142% (31).

Eggs contain good quantities of sulfur, vitamins and minerals that aid in promoting and maintaining the health of hair and nails. Regular intake of boiled eggs in diet helps to improve the growth of hair and nails especially in people suffering from deficiency of sulphur or vitamin B12 .

Beneficial for the canine diet It is one of the few foods that provide the body with vitamin D. Vitamin D is a vitamin that is kept in the fatty tissues of the body and the liver.

It helps promote bone health and muscle and nerve control. It also helps regulate calcium in the kidneys and to keep the calcium level throughout your dog’s entire body at a good level.
